Overview

Day Trip Casablanca

Casablanca is the largest city in the Maghreb region and the eighth largest in the Arab world. Casablanca is Morocco's main port and one of Africa's largest financial centers.

Located on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, Casablanca became one of the most important cities of the Berber kingdom Barghawata in the middle of the 8th century. In the 14th century, it was used as a key port by the Merinids; and in the 15th century, it became known as a safe harbor for pirates. Casablanca came under Portuguese control soon after. In 1755, the city was largely destroyed by an earthquake. It was rebuilt by Sultan Mohammed ben Abdallah and was colonized in the 20th century by the French.

Discover the emblematic places of Casablanca during a guided walking tour. Casablanca, Dar El Baïda in Arabic, owes its name of "white city" to a group of Spanish and Portuguese navigators seduced by the white facades, facing the sea, of the houses of the Anfa district. Explore this dynamic city and admire its boulevards and modern infrastructure.

Stroll through the Habous district, renowned for its small squares and arcaded streets: the marriage between a modern urban setting and the labyrinthine passageways of the traditional medina. Continue the visit to the Place des Nations Unies and the superb Place Mohammed V. Then go to the central market to admire the royal palace of the city.

Visit the colorful Habous district and discover the Mehkma, the city courtyard. Visit the two religious epicenters of the city the Notre-Dame de Lourdes cathedral and the famous Hassan II mosque. End the ride in the residential district of Anfa and shop for souvenirs in the brand-new shopping center facing the sea.
